All about her

It was my first day in college. I had just arrived to the big city to pursue my engineering. Having spent 18 years in a small rural area Bangalore looked intimidating. I had checked in to the hostel a couple of days before the first day. This was the first time I was going to attend a class wearing not in uniform. So it was a tough task selecting the dress I need to wear on the first day. After all I had come with a mission to woo gals (uh!). I reached the main building and it was buzzing with activity. There were cool dudes and dudettes (yeah thats a word....) all around. I looked at the list of people in my department and started looking around my name. Then I spotted her name. It was just before mine.

The first session on the first day was chemistry. My research had told me that sitting in the first bench really doesnt create any good impression in the lecturers mind. Work was all that mattered (uh!). I occupied the last bench along with a few hostelites I was acquainted with. The chemistry lecturer (a young guy) asked each one of us to introduce ourselves. He was more interested in the girls. I am sure he just turned a deaf ear when a guy introduced himself. All the guys did the same too. Then I heard a girl speak out the name I had seen on the list. I looked at her.

We had our first lab session a month after college started. The subject was chemistry. After occupying my allotted place I looked around myself. She was standing right in front of me. After the session we walked from the lab to the classroom together.

Its been 5 years now. I have partnered her in every lab that we had during our course and also in both the projects. I have been to her house a number of times and have also had lunch in her house along with her dad. I have never had any feelings for her and such a thought has never crossed my mind. The same goes from her side too.

So does that mean that a guy and a gal can be just friends.....
