Story in parts : The first meeting
They were standing on the edge of a cliff.
The drop below was around 300 meters and could be termed as fatal. She grasped his hand more firmly. She then looked at him. How their lives had changed.
They had met around 8 months back. It could be told that a mutual friend had introduced them to each other. But the mutual friend was unaware of this. They had met on orkut. He had looked at her profile through his friend's friend list. It had caught his eye immediately. For over a month he went through her scrapbook to understand what kind of lady she was. She had not uploaded her photo. But he had formed an opinion. Neither she not the common friend knew that he was visiting her profile so often.
And then orkut came up with the brilliant idea to display the list of people who have visited the profile recently. She noticed that this person was in that list almost daily. She traced the common friend and enquired about this person. He had not uploaded a photograph. But she had formed an opinion. She began to check his scrapbook everyday. He could see her name in the list almost everyday.
It took a month for the first scrap to be exchanged. She had decided that it was time to see who her cyber stalker was. She wrote this in his scrapbook "Can we meet".
He could sense her gaze on her. She looked more beautiful than the day they had met for the first time. How could he ever forget that first meeting. Though he had expected her to come alone she had brought that common friend of theirs along with her.
He had arrived 30 min early to the rendezvous point. She came along with her friend 30 min late. He did not believe in love at first sight. And it was not to be. But he was very nervous. He tried to reassure himself thinking he is just meeting a girl. It was not a date. But he couldnt take his eyes off her during the whole of next hour. Most of the talking was done by the common friend. By the end of the hour he had decided that he would make the next move.
She turned her eyes away from him and looked at the crevice below. She couldnt even trace the bottom. She felt as nervous as she was when she met him for the first time.....
From the moment she had written that scrap askin him to meet she had had second thoughts. But she was curious to find out more about him. She decided to take her friend along with. At least her friend knew both of them. They had reached about half an hour late. She did not believe in love at first sight. But she was captivated by his looks. By the time the hour was up she was sure he too felt the same.
That night the second scrap was exchanged between them. She read the scrap from him. "Can we meet again....and this time alone". She smiled.
She now felt dizzy standing at such a height and still not able to spot of the bottom. But she could sense the determination in him to go ahead. They had reached a decision and did not want to turn back. Though a lot of things that happened since the first meeting were inevitable some could have been avoided.............
To be contd....
